Ruger 180 series Mini 14 extractor #M-14, not for serial numbers starting with 181 and higher
Of all the parts we manufacture, these extractors have taken, by far, the most research and development time. The early 180 series Mini-14 has a very violent cycling action. The factory original extractors were cast, and very failure- prone. We studied original broken extractors and we have made changes to this new batch to eliminate the original stress points. We added a large inside corner radius where they are most prone to crack, and we added the maximum amount of material to the back side of the hook, further strengthening the part.
These new parts are not cast. They are machined from solid tool steel, machined on CNC equipment, heat treated, then tested for correct Rockwell hardness to make them tough and wear-resistant.
Because of their odd shape and complex angles, these extractors require many different machine set-ups and fixtures, along with a small amount of hand tuning. They are more than just a tiny piece of metal, and the price reflects that.
The use of a M-1 Carbine bolt tool is EXTREMELY helpful. It's not perfect, but it makes the job considerably easier.
We fired hundreds of rounds through our test rifle with one of these production extractors, and we are confident these are the strongest, most durable reproduction 180 series extractors possible.
THIS PART IS NOT GUARANTEED DUE TO POOR QUALITY STEEL CASED AMMO. WE HAVE SOLD HUNDREDS OF THESE WITHOUT FAILURE WHEN USED WITH STANDARD BRASS CASES.
This part is manufactured of high quality tool steel and heat-treated to precise specifications in our Midwest facility, using an original factory part for duplication. Some parts may need additional fitting to accommodate wear in old firearms.
Sorry, we are unable to do any international sales of firearms parts due to excessive cost and regulations.
